Who knows when any of us will experience this call? Hopefully never, but it seems to be happening a lot more than in the past. I just saw a news article on an active shooter situation in Maryland. So upsetting that the people taking an oath to protect us have been the ones with the crosshairs on them more now than ever. Stay safe our brothers in blue!!!!

I agree with the comment above. You always need to be aware of your surroundings on every call.

No amount of training will ever prepare anyone enough for an active shooter response, it is our job to learn from the unfortunate experiences of others if nothing else. Hopefully just one bit of knowledge will make a difference when and if any of us are placed in such a situation

We had a training at our department recently about how to quickly and effectively apply tourniquets and Israeli bandages. We have an active shooter bag on the rig with tourniquets, Israeli bandages, quick clot, and gauze. Hopefully we'll never need to use it, but glad we have it available.
